AUSTIN (KXAN) - Arson investigators need help finding the man responsible for torching a stolen car Sat., Aug. 31, in South Austin.
Investigators said the man stole the 2012 silver Chrysler 300 from the parking garage of The Towers at Town Lake condominiums Friday night after 8 p.m.
The video footage showed the suspect jumping the fence and entering the parking garage. The suspect walked car-to-car trying to open doors. After a few successful attempts, the man broke in to the Chrysler and drove away.
The car was found burned a few hours later in South Austin.
Arson investigators are asking for the public’s help to identify the suspect. He is reportedly a white male with short hair standing at 5’8” to 6 feet tall and weights about 180 to 200 pounds. Investigators said he was last seen wearing a white t-shirt.

An 8-year-old was killed while standing outside of a vehicle which lost control during the icy conditions, DPS said.
