AUSTIN (KXAN) - Serving a five-year sentence for tampering with evidence after agruesome 2005 West Campus murder, Laura Hall was denied paroleWednesday by the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles. A pardons andparoles official said Hall will undergo another review as her nextchance of release, in December 2009.
At that point, the board could decide to keep Hall in jail orrelease her under mandatory supervision. Hall's sentence isscheduled to officially end September 2012.
Hall was convicted in August 2007 and sentenced to five years inprison for tampering with evidence in the murder of Jennifer Cave,21. She also was charged with hindering apprehension, amisdemeanor, for helping convicted killer Colton Pitonyak flee toMexico in 2005.
Pitonyak was Cave's former boyfriend. Her body was found in hisapartment. Prosecutors said at Hall's previous trial that it wasLaura who was the mastermind behind the mutilation.
According to Hall's attorney, Pitonyak was not charged until thepair reached the border town of Piedras Negras. A jury foundPitonyak guilty of murder in 2007 and sentenced him to 55 years inprison. Hall was sentenced for her role in the crime in September2007.
