AUSTIN (KXAN) - Nearly four months after the Austin school board terminated its contract with IDEA Public Schools, the charter group announced that it has secured a temporary home for its Austin campus.
IDEA announced Thursday that IDEA Allan Academy and College Prep will lease space from The Church in Austin at 220 Foremost Drive for the 2013-14 school year. Classes will be offered in grades kindergarten through 7th.
"We are grateful to The Church in Austin for opening their doors to us and our students and families.," said IDEA Austin Executive Director Larkin Tackett.
The charter has signed a one-year lease with the church. It hopes to have a permanent facility for the 2014-15 school year."
In December, the Austin school board voted 5-4 to end its arrangement with IDEA, which was Austin's first in-district charger school.
