AUSTIN (KXAN) - An early morning house fire Monday in East Austin sent seven people to area hospitals, including a pregnant 16-year-old who is in serious condition.
Fire crews arrived at the home to find heavy fire coming from the family home at 2105 East 14th St., where seven people were inside at the time.
EMS crews took two girls, ages 11 and 16, to Dell Children's Medical Center . They remain in critical condition with inhalation burns. They were transported to Shriners Hospital for Children in Galveston.
A 13-year-old was taken to Dell Children's Medical Center with minor injuries and released.
Four others were taken to University Medical Center Brackenridge. a 65-year-old man and the the pregnant teen were in serious condition and transported to Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio.
Two others, both 19-year-old men, are in good condition and were released from University Medical Center Brackenridge.
Police said the teens were able to get out after kicking out a window air conditioning unit.
A neighbor said he sees the 11-year-old girl out a lot in the neighborhood, and is hoping for the best for her and the family.
"She walks her dog up and down--in fact--she helped us out a few times. You know, she's just real friendly. She's just a really nice, cute girl. You I hate it. I hope she's all right," said Gregory Bullitt.
The Red Cross is helping the displaced family.
