AUSITN (KXAN) - Pediatric emergency room doctors treat the youngest patients; in the most life threatening situations.
Dell's Children's Medical Center is one of the only 17 level-one pediatric trauma centers in the U.S. This summer they will kick off a new program designed to get more children's trauma doctors trained.
Dr. Sujit Iyer, Associate Director of Seton Healthcare Family's Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship Program says, "The participants of this program will become experts. Not only clinically but also to develop research programs that advances the care of pediatric medicine."
Seton Healthcare Family hopes that this program will become one of the best in the country.
"We really hope to put the stamp of Austin on this program. We want to have them out in the community and really interacting with the community," Dr. Iyer said.
