AUSTIN (KXAN) - Two pedestrians were rushed to the hospital on Monday afternoon when a car struck them on the hike-and-bike trail along Lady Bird Lake.
Austin police said the accident happened around 5:15 p.m. in the 900 block of West Cesar Chavez Avenue, just east of South Lamar Boulevard.
Police said a driver lost control of his vehicle, jumped the curb and ran into an 80-year-old man and a 42-year-old woman who were walking on the trail.
The man was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries while the woman sustained minor injuries.
Police are still investigating to determine why the driver ran onto the sidewalk area.
