AUSTIN (KXAN) - A bank robbery suspect is in custody after turning himself into police.
SWAT teams were called to a North Austin home about 4:20 p.m. after the suspect barricaded himself inside. Multiple agencies reported to the scene near Northridge and Hillside drives.
Authorities were also interviewing other people inside the home, but they were not being considered suspects.
The bank robbery occurred about 3:45 p.m. at Bank of America, 2511 West Parmer Lane. A citizen witness followed the suspect from the bank to a home on Northridge Drive and alerted authorities.
Police said the suspect was armed.
Late Saturday night into early Sunday morning, a light band of freezing drizzle traversed the I-35 corridor eastward. With sub-freezing temperatures, even the light precipitation created major problems.
