AUSTIN (KXAN) - Ballet Austin is gearing up for 4th biennial New American Talent/Dance competition and Stephen Mills, the artistic director at Ballet Austin, joined us in the studio today to talk about how the three-day event will work.
The event will feature three choreographers from New York City, each of whom will be responsible for choreographing a show for the audience to vote on.
On Sunday, after each show has premiered, audience members will be asked to use their cell phones as voting devices and the winner will be crowned based on those votes.
The grand prize winner and runner up will receive a total of over $24,000 in cash prizes as well as national acclaim.
This year's finalists are Gregory Dolbashian, Founder of The DASH Ensemble, Loni Landon, Founder of Loni Landon-projects, and Bradley Shelver, Artistic Director of Bradley Shelver Contemporary Dance Theater.
Their shows will begin at 8pm on February 17th and 18th and at 3pm on Sunday, February 19th.
