FREDERICKSBURG, Texas (KXAN) - A wreck on 290 East, near the city limits of Fredericksburg, killed Randy Trinkle around 8:00 this morning.
Trinkle was heading home to Fredericksburg, after working an overnight shift as an EMS, when he crashed into another car near a construction site.
According to Ernesto Rodriquez, Austin-Travis County EMS Director and Chief, Capt. Trinkle had 15 years of service with the department.
Rodriquez told KXAN, "He was a good and faithful servant. I think that's what it takes to do this job over and over and give like he did every day like he did."
Trinkle helped train members of the special operations team and helped out with Fredericksburg EMS.
Chief Art Acevedo also tweeted out, "Thought & prayers go out to our brothers & sisters of Austin-Travis EMS who lost a member of their team last night. We are here for you all!"
Fredericksburg Police could not confirm the condition of anyone else in the accident but said there was only one fatality.
Jeff Steele, a commander with Austin-Travis County EMS, said that donations to support Capt. Trinkle's family can be made through the Austin Paramedic Fund. The fund works to help EMS families impacted by the unexpected and local charities. When sending in a donation, you can specify how you'd like your donation to be used.
