AUSTIN (KXAN) - Business is booming at Austin Bergstrom International Airport. Four of the last five months have been record-setters for the airport.
In July, 922,615 passengers traveled through the terminal, a 6.5 percent increase from 2012. The number also topped the previous single month record of 911,675 set in June.
Southwest Airlines, United Airlines, Delta Air Lines, JetBlue Airways, U.S. Airways and Alaska Airlines all saw increases from year-to-year. American Airlines saw a decrease of 0.9 percent from July 2012. General aviation numbers increased by 2 percent.
Through July, 5,778,090 passengers have traveled through ABIA, a 6 percent bump from this time last year.
On Tuesday, ABIA announced British Airways would begin providing nonstop service to London beginning in March 2014.
Additionally, ABIA is in the middle of a project to expand security checkpoints along with customs and border protection security.
