AUSTIN (KXAN) - Three men are in custody and being held in the Burnet CountyJail on charges of aggravated robbery in connection with a homeinvasion alleged to have occurred on Tuesday.
Two other men are also being held on theft charges related tothis same incident. This incident was reported to the Burnet CountySheriff's Office at approximately 4 a.m. on Tuesday at which timean extensive investigation was initiated which involvedinvestigators from many different task forces and police units.
Approximately 14 hours into the investigation, investigatorsmade contact with and detained a total of five individuals at aresidence located in the 400 block of East Castlewood in the Cityof Granite Shoals. Those individuals were identified as:
- Nauna Antonio Fuentes-Sanchez
- Carlos Ilberto Sanchez
- Gilberto Hernandez Aldana
- Aaron Jose Sanchez
- Alvaro Estrada Caceres
While at this residence investigators developed probable causeto believe that these individuals may have been involved in or hadknowledge of this incident. These men were subsequently transportedto the Sheriff's Office as part of the ongoing investigation.
Based on statements obtained from Gilberto Hernandez Aldana andAlvaro Estrada Caceres, investigators believed that there wassufficient evidence to obtain an evidentiary search warrant for theresidence located at 424 East Castlewood. At approximately 12:45a.m. District Court Judge Dan Mills signed the warrant authorizinga search of this residence for specific items reportedly taken inthe home invasion. The warrant was immediately executed at whichtime investigators recovered items believed to have been stolenduring the robbery.
Charges of aggravated robbery in connection with this incidenthave been filed on the following individuals with bond being set at$200,000 on each;
- Gilberto Hernandez Aldana; 18
- Alvaro Estrada Caceres; 18
- Nauna Antonio Fuentes-Sanchez; 23
Charges of Class A misdemeanor theft have been filed on thefollowing individuals in connection with this case with bond beingset at $25,000 on each:
- Carlos Eriberto Sanchez; 24
- Aaron Jose Fuentes-Sanchez; 20
Based on information developed during the investigation, thevehicle that was reportedly stolen in this incident was located atapproximately 11 a.m. this date at an undisclosed location in LlanoCounty by the Texas Department of Public Safety Aviation Unit.
Investigators are now looking into some or all of theseindividuals possible involvement in another felony crime whichoccurred in this same area of Burnet County.
All of these individuals claim to be foreign nationals from ElSalvador and their status in the United States is being verified byagents from Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Late Saturday night into early Sunday morning, a light band of freezing drizzle traversed the I-35 corridor eastward. With sub-freezing temperatures, even the light precipitation created major problems.
