AUSTIN (KXAN) - Police arrested former University of Texas cornerback Cedric Griffin was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated early Saturday morning.
According to an affidavit, an officer saw a black Mercedes weaving in and out of traffic on E. 7th St. When he followed it, he found the car crossing over the double yellow line into the oncoming lane.
An initial breath test found that Griffin's blood alcohol level was .164, more than twice the legal limit. The affidavit says that Griffin '" stated that he had four shots earlier in the night and a "sapphire" double gin mixed drink".
This is the second DWI Griffin has been arrested for. In 2009 he pleaded guilty to fourth-degree driving while intoxicated in Minnesota.
Griffin played as the cornerback for the University of Texas throughout his college years. He later went on to play for the Minnesota Vikings and the Washington Redskins.
