SAN MARCOS, Texas (KXAN) - A former student from Akins High School is dead after a stabbing in San Marcos early Sunday morning.
According to San Marcos Police, Arthur Martinez, 20, was stabbed during a party in the 700 block of Allen St.
"Martinez and friends were at a party in San Marcos when the stabbing occurred," Sgt. Fred Wisener with San Marcos police said.
Witnesses tell KXAN News the former Akins High School student was seen walking out of the front door clutching his chest, bleeding and asking to be taken to the hospital.
Police say Martinez was transported to San Marcos Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
News of the stabbing quickly spread on twitter around 2:30 a.m. according to one anonymous KXAN viewer who said by 3:00 a.m. the social media activity shifted to announcement of Martinez's death.
The Travis County Medical Examiner will perform an autopsy to determine an official cause of death.
Police are investigating the death as a homicide and are looking for a suspect or suspects but would not release any other details.
