AUSTIN (KXAN) - A press conference with AustinPolice Department Chief ArtAcevedo and Travis CountyDistrict Attorney RosemaryLehmberg is set for Thursday to address allegations madeagainst APD’s DNA lab.
Her complaint outlined a variety of concerns:
- a hostile work environment
- supervisor issues
- quality issues - specifically, inadequate analyst training
Acevedo said they remain confident in the work of the Austinpolice crime lab. They said Hamilton's allegations were reviewedinternally this spring and that her complaints were deemedunfounded. Acevedo was not available for on-camera comment Tuesdaynight.
Already, the district attorney's office has begun to informlocal defense attorneys so that no one is caught by surprise by theallegations.
"With that said, we are going to, out of an overabundance ofcaution, and in the spirit of transparency" and seek the additionalreview, Acevedo said.
