AUSTIN (KXAN) - Teri Alvarado is a long time trainer at Hyde Park Gym. She says getting fit is all about commitment and setting realistic goals, but also knowing which system works best with who you are.
According to Alvarado, "Whether it's a group setting with individuals, going to a boot camp, coming into the gym with a partner, with a significant other, whatever it may be to get you out there and get you motivated do it."
Marc Frazier takes working out seriously. He says fitness helps him look better but helps him even more on the inside.
"Well I don't think you can separate the mind from the body or the emotions for that matter and I think exercise keeps all those systems working well," says Frazier.

Joe Hauger, a yoga instructor, told KXAN, "It is about trying to be more present in your body, a lot of times our teachers will say you know same on the mat as off the mat so if you can be calm in this crazy posture you can be calm driving down MoPac and being cut off or what have you on your way to work"
Whether you'll be lifting weights to burn calories or tying on your running shoes more often, fitness experts say finding an activity that fits your personality will give you a better chance to stick with it in the long run.
