WARDA, Texas (KXAN) - Monday's strong winds fueled a fire that destroyed several small cabins at Camp Lost Pines in northern Fayette County.
The La Grange and Winchester Fire Departments along with the Fayette County Sherriff's Officer were dispatched to the camp Monday evening.
The Texas Forest Services also responded with two dozers to help contain the fire.
The fire started after a brush pile that was burned on Saturday rekindled as a result of Monday's powerful winds.
According to its website , Camp Lost Pines covers 40 acres and is owned and operated by The Church of God of Prophecy. The camp is maintained by volunteers from local church fellowships and affiliates throughout the state.
Several acres of land also burned in fire.
