WATAUGA COUNTY, N.C. (NBCNC) - An amateur bird watcher in North Carolina's high country got a unexpected surprise from a photo he took of a red-tailed hawk this weekend.
The picture was taken Saturday in Watauga County near Boone.
It's a nice photo of a mature red-tailed hawk perched on a power pole searching for food.
But it wasn't until Sunday afternoon that the photographer realized the bird's tail feathers appeared to resemble a face.
