BASTROP COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) - A man was charged with intoxicated manslaughter after clipping a truck which sent the vehicle tumbling down the highway on Thursday.
Rayford Reaves, 51, was killed after his Fort pickup was hit by a distracted driver in a Hyundai as he traveled westbound down on U.S. Highway 290. The accident caused the truck to go into a side skid and roll numerous times. Reaves, a Cedar Park resident, died at the scene.
According to the Department of Public Transportation, the accident happened around 3:40 p.m. on Hwy 290 between Elgin and McDade .
The driver of the Hyundai, John Sexton, 47, of Bastrop was arrested and taken to the Bastrop County jail. He has been charged with intoxicated manslaughter.
Several lanes were blocked as emergency officials cleared the accident.
