BASTROP, Texas (KXAN) - A brush fire near State Highway and Lonestar Drive in Bastrop County prompted officials to call for the evacuations of some homes in the area, officials say.
The fire was reported around 12:45 in the eastern part of the county near the Federal Corrections Institute. The evacuations, considered precautionary, were in the area of Lonestar Drive and Pershing Drive.
Officials at 1:30 p.m. said the fire was contained to a nearby hayfield, and the evacuation order was expected to be lifted by this evening.
About five acres burned. Three homes and three other structures were threatened, officials said. No cause was given.
Crews from Bastrop, Smithville and the Texas Fire Service assisted in containing the blaze.
The scene was cleared just after 8 p.m.
