SAN ANTONIO (KXAN) - San Antonio Police are investigating the assault of a Roman Catholic priest from Bastrop.
A spokesman for the Diocese of Austin says Father Rafael Padilla was attacked on May 29 in a motel room.
Padilla is the priest of Ascension Catholic Church in Bastrop.
According to WOAI , the NBC affiliate in San Antonio, said Padilla was found beaten up in a motel room in an area of San Antonio known for drugs and prostitution.
The station said police found the priest wearing only his underwear with deep cuts and bruises to his face and arms. He reportedly couldn't tell police what had happened.
Diocesan officials say Padilla is now in good condition. The Diocese of Austin is conducting it's own investigation into what happened.
