AUSTIN (KXAN) - Amazon is planning to open three new fulfillment centers in Texas, two of which will be in the Dallas area and one near San Antonio.
The three sites, which will help fulfill customer orders, will initially employ around 1,000 people.
"We're pleased Amazon is investing in Texas by bringing three fulfillment centers and more than 1,000 jobs to our state," said Texas Comptroller Susan Combs. "I thank Amazon for working with us—making it possible to bring new jobs and revenue to the state of Texas."
The new sites will be located in Coppell, Haslet and Schertz.
If you're ordering televisions or bbqs, those items will probably come from the 1.2 million-square-foot site in Schertz and the 1 million-square-foot site in Coppell.
The 1.1 million-square-foot site in Haslet will handle smaller items like books, small electronics or DVDs.
Last spring , the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts Susan Combs and Amazon came to an agreement regarding the sales tax issues between the state and the Washington-based company.
If you're an Amazon customer, you might have noticed that Amazon started to collect and remit Texas sales tax back in July.
