AUSTIN (KXAN) - One could say she "landed" a spot on one of the hottest vocal competition shows, and you'd be right.
Lex Land, an Austin singer-songwriter, was chosen by judge Blake Shelton after she did a sultry rendition of "I Can't Make You Love Me" in Monday night's NBC show, "The Voice."
Shelton said he heard three different styles of vocalist in her rendition, and wanted to help her decide which of those she should focus on as she moves on in the competition. Land agreed, and was excited to join Team Blake.
Land is quite the accomplished songwriter, with some of her original songs on television shows such as "Private Practice," "One Tree Hill" and "Castle." She also volunteers at Girls Rock Camp Austin . There she mentors young girls as they develop their singing and instrumental talents.
Land's page on "The Voice" says she is a huge Judy Garland fan, and that she loves cooking and playing the ukelele.
Follow Land on Twitter at @LexLand . A tweet by her on Wednesday said she is excited about her upcoming dinner with Nakia, fellow Austinite and singer/musician who made it into the finals on "The Voice" last season.
She also has a blog and is on Facebook.
