FORT MEYERS, Fla. (CNN/WBBH) - A science teacher is challenging his students to figure out how a message in a bottle survived four years in the Gulf of Mexico.

The bottle has weathered storms, sea creatures and even an oil spill.

Teacher Carl Melamet is using this opportunity to teach his students about the way the ocean moves.
