(CNN) - Britain's Prince Harry is moving into his own pad at Kensington Palace, right next to big brother William and sister-in-law Catherine.

A royal source tells CNN Prince Harry and Prince William wanted to live together. Will and Kate will move into the main building of the palace next year, while Harry takes over their cottage on the palace grounds.

Kensington Palace was home to both the princes when they were being brought up by their mother Diana, the Princess of Wales. She lived there from 1981 until her death in 1997.
