ROUND ROCK, Texas (KXAN) - Floodwaters damaged dozens of homes in the Round Rock West neighborhood Wednesday.
Lake Creek surrounds the neighborhood, and it swelled out of its banks overnight, catching many homeowners off guard.
"We went to bed thinking that we only had three- or four inches inches of rain," said Robert Felps. "So everybody woke up to their houses being flooded."
The Felps family lives on St. Williams Loop and awoke Wednesday morning to find several inches of water in their home. Lake Creek runs right behind their house and rose several feet, swallowing their back yard and picking up a neighbor's wood shed.
As cleaning crews worked to get the water out of their home, the Felps tried to salvage what they could Wednesday.
"I can't believe this is my house," said Janice Felps. "It's just like, it's overwhelming. There's so much to do."
A crew from The Steam Team removed carpet from the Felps' home most of the afternoon.
"We're just servicing who we can when we can," said Bobby Fuentes. "I'm told by dispatch about 15 more jobs tonight and scheduled well into Saturday."
Others in the Round Rock West neighborhood were evacuated from their homes early Wednesday morning.
They said it was the worst flooding they can remember in the area since 1984.
