List of roads closed throughout area

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) - High waters and heavy rains have submerged several area roadways in Williamson and Travis County.

In Cedar Park : Updates at 5 p.m. Wednesday

• FM1431 at Spanish Oak Creek remains closed with slow drainage. TxDOT has barricades up and officials are watching it closely. With additional rain and slow run-off, it does not look like it can open until tomorrow morning – if then.
• Riviera remains closed at the creek / park.
• East Brushy Creek Road – just east of Parmer Lane remains closed.
• Light at Bagdad and West 1431 remains flashing on 4-way red – TxDOT has been notified. Delays expected during commute home.

With continued rain and run-off, it is impossible to determine when the roads will actually open, according to Cedar Park officials. The Cedar Park Police Department will continue to monitor roads.

 

Williamson County

Williamson County Judge Dan A. Gattis has signed a local disaster declaration due to flooding in the county after more than 23 water rescues from homes and vehicles happened overnight.

Residents are encouraged not to drive unless necessary or to delay starting out on roads Wednesday morning.

The Williamson County Unified Road System reports the following roads are closed as of 11:30 a.m. Wednesday due to high water:

• CR 123, CR 230, CR 177, CR 272, CR 143, CR 245 E. of CR 241, CR 241 S. of CR 245, CR 222, Brushy Creek @ Hairy Man, CR 152, CR 100, CR 388, CR 384, CR 382, CR 315, CR 328, CR 347, CR 341, CR 337, Big and Little Mankin’s Crossing, CR 234, CR 239, CR 146, CR 366, CR 101, CR 332, CR 456, CR 251, CR 179, CR 177, CR 222, CR 239, CR 146, CR 234, CR 130, Cedar Hollow Road. Golden Oaks will be closed until repairs caused by flooding can be made.

In Georgetown:

• 18th Street at Eubank Street
• Airport Road between Lakeway Drive and I-35
• Austin Avenue between CR 151 and Inner Loop
• FM 971 at Berry Creek (2 miles east of 130 Toll Road)
• Industrial Avenue near FM 1460
• Texas 29 at Mankins Crossing (between CR 100 and CR 120)

There are many reports of flooded roads, debris on roads and damaged roads in Georgetown. The City advises drivers to assess road conditions carefully and, if at all possible, wait for daylight before driving.

In Austin:

• Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard at Airport Boulevard is closed because the railroad crossing arms are down
• Ranch to Market Road 2222 is closed from Loop 360 to Mount Bonnell
• U.S. Highway 183 has been opened northbound and southbound, with one southbound lane closed.

The best advice if you encounter standing water, of course, is to "Turn Around, Don't Drown." If you can't judge the depth of water, don't risk it. 

The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch for all of the KXAN viewing area through Wednesday morning.
