BUDA, Texas (KXAN) - A brush fire that was burning on Tuesday afternoon is under control. Travis County Fire and Rescue chief Ken Bailey said it took crews an hour to contain it. Two sheds and about 20 acres were charred in the brush fire, but no one was hurt and no homes were lost.
Earlier Tuesday afternoon, fire officials were concerned about the fire spreading to three homes, just a quarter of a mile north of the sheds. One of the homes was occupied, but not evacuated. Instead, crews sent a truck to the homeowner as a precaution. Travis County, Buda, Chisolm Trail and the Austin Fire departments responed to the call. In all, 15 trucks and 45 firefighters were on the scene.
Crews cleared the scene and opened the Northbound lane of U.S. Highway 183 at 4:45 p.m. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
