Lawrence, Kansas (KXAN) - The UT women are desperate for some big wins to improve their NCAA tournament resume. Instead of that, the Longhorns were blown out at Kansas on Wednesday, 85-61 to fall to 13-9 and 3-8 in Big 12 play.
Kansas opened up a 36-19 first half lead, but the Longhorns were able to cut it to 40-33 at the half. The Longhorns pulled within three on a pair of Asheigh Fontenette free throws at 42-39. From there Kansas took control and cruised to a 24 point win.
Sophomore Chassidy Fussell led Texas with 22 points. Aishah Sutherland led all scorers with 24 points as Kansas shot 56% from the field.
Texas is back in action Saturday evening at the Erwin Center against Oklahoma State.
