AUSTIN (KXAN) - Thousands gathered on Monday night for a Longhorn tradition: Hex Rally
The Hex Rally kicked off at 8:30 p.m. at Main Mall on the University of Texas campus.
It's a rally before Thursday's football game with Texas A&M in College Station.
The event has roots back to 1941, when a local fortune teller advised Texas students to put a curse on the Aggies by burning red candles before the game.
Because A&M is moving to the Southeastern Conference, this could be the last game between the Longhorns and the Aggies for a long time.
