AUSTIN, TEX (KXAN) - Longhorns have never been two games under .500 in Big 12 play under Rick Barnes, Tuesday night they avoided going three games below .500 with a 62-55 win over Iowa State.

The Longhorns snapped their three game win streak as they improved to 13-7 and 3-4 in conference play.  Myck Kabongo led the Horns offensive attack with 13 points including their only two field goals during a eight minute stretch where Texas saw its 44-26 lead dwindle to 46-39.

J'Covan Brown scored 12 but was just 3-16 from the field including an 0-8 first half.  Freshman Julien Lewis scored 12 points as well.  Iowa State (14-6, 4-3) was led by Royce White who scored 15 points and pulled down 15 rebounds.

This was the first team from the old Big 12 North that Texas has played twice in the new double round robin format.  Longhorns avenged their conference opening loss in Ames on January 3rd.

Texas travels to 7th ranked Baylor Saturday at noon, Bears snapped a two game losing streak with a 77-65 win over Oklahoma on Tuesday in Norman.
