HOUSTON (AP) - Houston Texans defensive coordinator Wade Phillips focused on the positive plays from Sunday's 43-37 win over lowly Jacksonville.
The Texans (9-1) gave up 458 yards and four touchdown passes to a backup quarterback, a stunning reversal for a defense that had not allowed a single TD in the previous two games. But they clamped down at the end, and Phillips sees that as a trait of an elite defense.
Houston's coaches didn't spend much time dwelling on the defensive breakdowns in Sunday's game. The Texans have a quick turnaround before they face Matthew Stafford, Calvin Johnson and the NFL's second-ranked offense in Detroit (4-6) in the early game on Thanksgiving.
