AUSTIN (KXAN) - The Austin Jesters are looking to fill slots on two semi-pro basketball teams.
Open tryouts for Austin's amateur Community Basketball League are set for Saturday, Oct. 30 at the Gus Garcia Recreation Center, 1201 E. Rundberg Lane .
One team will be made up of players post-high school and/or between the ages of 17 and 23. A second team will be made up of players post-college and/or ages 24 and older.
“Austin has a lot of talented players and I am excited to see what is yet to come. I plan to develop a strong presence within the Austin community.” said Rachel Ates, general manager of the Austin Jesters.
The season schedule starts in May 2011.
Cost of tryouts is $75, which includes a jersey, equipment fee, five free tickets to the teams' first home games, and a discount into the adult league should the younger players not be selected for the teams.
The CBL Exposure League will promote players to colleges and already established professional basketball leagues and teams. Players who want to play in the semi-pro league must register with their local league. CBL semi-pro players are not financially compensated for participating in the league.
