HOUSTON (AP) - Houston Texans quarterback Matt Schaub avoided football questions and directed attention to his foundation at a children's hospital.
Schaub and his wife, Laurie, presented a $200,000 check to the Texas Children's Hospital on Monday, a donation through the couple's Gr8 Hope Foundation . Schaub wears No. 8. Last year, the Schaubs raised $108,000 for a playroom at the hospital's campus west of Houston.
Schaub says he'll answer questions about his injured right foot and his contract at the start of training camp next week. After throwing for more than 4,000 yards in 2009 and '10, Schaub fractured the Lisfranc joint in his right foot in Week 10 last season. He's due to make about $7.15 million this year, the last of his current contract.
