AUSTIN (KXAN) - Texas baseball's new hitting coach, Tommy Nicholson, a former three-year letterman with the Longhorns, met with the media for the first time Tuesday.
Nicholson was hired as Texas's hitting coach late last month. He replaced Tommy Harmon, who had been with the Longhorns for 23 years as both a player and a coach.
The Longhorns didn't make the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1998, leading to Nicholson being brought in from Sacramento State.
Nicholson comes to Texas after a two-year stint with Sacramento State as an the infield and hitting coach while an assistant. Before his time in Sacramento, Nicholson spent two years with Texas as a volunteer assistant.
During his time on the 40 acres, Nicholson led the Longhorns to the 2000 College World Series in his senior season.
