LOS ANGELES - A rumor started on a pro Football Web site Sunday has advanced to a new report that states the Minnesota Vikings and Brett Favre have already signed a deal for the quarterback to play during the 2009-10 season, according to Yahoo Sports .

The Web site ProFootballTalk.com, known for breaking speculative news, cites an unusual source in breaking the news -- a military officer currently serving in Afghanistan who according to ProFootballTalk received the information from "credible sources." The site said it then contacted another source who "would know the truth," and that source reportedly would neither confirm or deny the rumor.

Bus Cook, Favre's agent, denied the report in the St. Paul Pioneer Press, saying there is "no contract" between his client (Brett Favre) and the Minnesota Vikings.

The report also speculated that the Vikings have already approved the production of official Favre jerseys with Reebok.

Minneapolis-area Web site EscapeToSports.com has Favre jerseys for sale on its site.

The report speculates that the Vikings will announce the signing on July 3.
