ARLINGTON, TEX(KXAN) - The Dallas Cowboys christened their new $1.2 billion stadium with a 30-10 win over Tennessee friday in front of more than 75,000 fans. Cowboys stadium has hosted concerts and soccer games, but this was the first football game played in the house that Jerry Jones built.
After a sluggish first drive, the Cowboys were crisp on their second possession with Marion Barber capping things off with the first touchdown scored in the new stadium. Felix Jones scored a short touchdown at the end of the half to give the Cowboys a 14-10 lead.
Romo was 18-24 for 192 yards, while Roy Williams had five receptions for 36 yards. The Cowboys scored 16 points in the fourth quarter capped off by a Steven McGee to Rodney Hannah 22 yard touchdown pass.
Vince Young's return to Texas was not especially memorable. Young was 3-9 for 33 yards and one interception on a tipped ball at the line of scrimmage.
One stadium glitch is the $35 million videoboard that spans nearly 60 yards. At 100 feet above the field it can be hit by a punt and was by Tennessee's A.J. Trapasso. The rule is that if the ball hits the board its a dead ball and the down is re-played.
The Cowboys are back in action on Saturday they 29th against the 49ers at Cowboys Stadium.
