DALLAS - Last year the two teams combined for 80 points.  This year, 16 points won it.

The No. 2 Texas Longhorns beat their Red River rival No. 2 Oklahoma 16-13 Saturday at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas, marking their closest game since 1997.

For the fifth straight year, the team that won the turnover battle was victorious.  The Longhorns recovered three fumbles and intercepted the ball twice.  The defense also held the Sooners to -16 yards rushing.

Offensively, senior kicker Hunter Lawrence notched three fieldgoals.  Texas scored their only touchdown in the 3rd quarter.  Senior quarterback Colt McCoy hit freshman Marquis Goodwin for a 13-7 lead.  It was Goodwin's first career touchdown.  McCoy finished 21-of-40 passing for 127 yards, a touchdown, and an interception.  He ends the series with three wins against Oklahoma.

Oklahoma junior quarterback Sam Bradford re-injured his shoulder early in the 1st quarter.  Texas' sophomore defensive back Aaron Williams sacked Bradford, causing him to fall on his right shoulder.  Bradford left the game and returned from the locker room without his helmet and shoulder pads.  He sprained his shoulder against BYU Sept. 5 originally.

Texas improves to 6-0 on the season.  They travel to Missouri next.  Kickoff is set for 7PM Saturday, Sept. 24.
