Longhorns beat Texas State 4-3

AUSTIN - Junior outfielder Paul Montalbano hit a two-run single in the eighth inning to give the Longhorns the lead in their 4-3 win over Texas State.

The Bobcats gained an early lead in the fourth inning thanks to a Bret Atwood RBI single and a Kyle Livingstone RBI double. Kevin Lusson hit an RBI double in the seventh to make it 2-1 Texas.

In the eighth, Daniel Neuman scored on a pass ball to give the Bobcats a 3-1 lead. But the Longhorns came back in the bottom of the frame, thanks to the Montalbano single, to win 4-3. Chance Ruffin earned his fourth save of the year in the win.

The Longhorns play Iowa at UFCU Disch-Falk Field on Friday night at 6:05.
