AUSTIN - The No. 2 Texas Longhorns didn't get the start they wanted, but they got the finish.

Texas improved to 9-0 with a 35-3 win over Central Florida at DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium Saturday afternoon.  It was a non-conference game rescheduled from Sept. 19 to switch places with Texas Tech.

The Longhorns shrugged off a scoreless first quarter before jump starting the offense.  Sophomore running back Cody Johnson had two touchdowns to give Texas a 14-3 lead at half.

Senior quarterback Colt McCoy threw two touchdowns in the second half.  He finished 33-of-42 passing for 470 yards, two scores, and an interception.  His main target was senior receiver Jordan Shipley.  Shipley caught 11 passes for a school-record 273 yards.  He scored on an 88-yard pass from McCoy to make it 28-3.

Junior receiver James Kirkendoll and sophomore running back Foswhitt Whittaker added touchdowns as well.

The Texas defense kept Central Florida out of the endzone.  They held UCF to 151 total yards and a fieldgoal, sacking the Knights quarterback Rob Calabrese six times.

The Longhorns honored Veterans' Day with special decals on their helmets.  Texas Exes piloted the pre-game flyover.

UT is back in Big-12 Conference play next week, traveling to Baylor on Saturday, Nov. 14.
