AUSTIN - For 22 seniors on the Longhorns football team, it's time to say goodbye to the house with the burnt orange carpet.
"I was talking to Chris Hall after our last home game and we look at each other like, 'We only have one game left man, how crazy is that?'" senior offensive lineman Charlie Tanner said. "We looked at Mad Dog and said, 'One game left at DKR.' It's gone fast."
Senior defensive lineman Lamarr Houston said he will miss the pregame ritual of going onto the field before the game.
"[It will] be my last time going out the tunnel," he said. "It's going to be a pretty memorable experience."
To Houston, the final home game of the year also signifies a coming of age.
"Just to realize it's over, and college is almost over, it's going to be a life-changing experience-- closing one chapter and starting another," Houston said. "It's going to be emotional out there."
Quarterback Colt McCoy said he will try to contain his emotion before the game.
"Just got to go out there and play, and again, not let your emotions get too high an treat it like another game," McCoy said. "Afterward, you want to think about it for a little bit, but I think 20 years from now, you'll look back on it and be appreciative of everything that's gone on."
With a Big 12 Title game berth on the line, along with a game at Texas A&M and a bowl game, the Longhorns have at least two more after the home finale, which is why head coach Mack Brown says the only ones who are really saying goodbye Saturday are the fans.
"It's just the last time our fans will get to see them play here, and they've been so special to us and all these players have, that I really hope our fans will come out and let them know how much they've enjoyed this run," Brown said.
