AUSTIN (KXAN) - Fans got their first look at the 2010 Texas Longhorns Wednesday night.  The team held the first of two open practices at DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium.

Hundreds of eager fans showed up to watch the entire two-hour workout.  Players split into position drills for the first half, and then scrimmaged offense versus defense for the second.

The highlight of the night came on a touchdown pass from sophomore quarterback Garrett Gilbert to junior receiver Malcolm Williams.  The back-up quarterback competition remains one of the hot topics.  True freshmen Connor Wood and Case McCoy are competing for the job.

The defense was able to hit some in helmet and shoulder pads.  Thursday will be their first day in full pads.  Practice will be open to the public from 7-9PM at DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium.

Texas is ranked No. 4 in the USA Today pre-season Coaches' Poll.
