KANSAS CITY (KXAN) - The seniors stepped up big to keep the Texas men's basketball team alive in the Big-12 Tournament.
Damion James led the Longhorns with 28 points and 16 rebounds to power past a pesky Iowa State team, 82-75, at the Sprint Center Wednesday night.
The Cyclones stayed within reach until the final minutes, but James and fellow senior Dexter Pittman countered every Iowa State run with a key basket. Pittman added 16 points and junior Gary Johnson produced his own double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds.
No. 6-seed Texas advances to play No. 3-seed Baylor in the Big-12 quarterfinals. That game is scheduled for 8:30pm Thursday night at the Sprint Center.
