WACO (KXAN) - Baylor forward Quincy Acy was a human highlight reel in their regular season finale. He scored 22 of his 24 points off dunks in a 92-77 win over Texas at the Ferrell Center Saturday.
The Longhorns limp into the basketball post-season with a 6-8 record since starting the year 17-0. Gary Johnson led Texas with 25 points in the game and Damion James added 18.
They were no match for Baylor's athleticism, however. The Bears forced 18 Texas turnovers and LaceDarius Dunn had a game-high 30 points, including a three that gave the Bears their largest lead at 86-69.
Texas will be the 6-seed in the Big-12 Tournament, which starts in Kansas City on Wednesday, March 10. Their first-round game is against 11-seed Iowa State at 8:30pm.
Baylor (24-6 overall, 11-5 Big-12) will be the 3-seed and earned a first-round bye with the win. It's the Bears best finish since their 25-win season in 1945-46.
