Waco, TEX (KXAN) - The 18th ranked UT women closed the regular season with a 70-54 win over 14 ranked Baylor Sunday afternoon in Waco. Baylor was without 6'8" freshman Brittney Griner who was serving the first of a two game suspension for punching Texas Tech's Jordan Barncastle last Wednesday. The Longhorns were able to take advantage of the short handed Bears, going on a 19-0 run to take control in the 2nd half. Freshman Cokie Reed scored 18 points in her hometown while senior Brittainey Raven also scored 18.
Texas closes the regular season 21-9 and 10-6 in the Big 12. The Longhorns are the 5th seed in the Big 12 Tournament and face 12th seeded Missouri Thursday afternoon in Kansas City. The winner of that game will take on 4th seeded Texas A&M in a Friday quarterfinal game.
