AUSTIN(KXAN) - If there is one team struggling more than Texas heading into the NCAA Tournament its their first round opponent. Texas drew the 8th seed in the East Regional and will face Wake Forest (19-10) in the first round on Thursday night in the New Orleans Arena.
The Demon Deacons have lost five of their last six including a four game losing streak before winning their regular season finale against Clemson.
While the Longhorns have lost 9 out of 15 since they were 17-0 and number one in the nation.
"Most peole are saying Texas is done, they're out, you know all the stuff, but I don't think our guys have felt like that at any time this year," said head coach Rick Barnes. "Now maybe we haven't played the way I think we can all the time, the fact is I do know these care enough and they never quit."
If Texas is able to get past Wake, then they will face number one seed Kentucky on Saturday. The Wildcats face East Tennessee State on Thursday.
