Jungmann dominates, Keyes delivers big blast

AUSTIN(KXAN) - The 3rd ranked Texas team baseball used great pitching a a grand slam from Kevin Keyes to knock 18th ranked Stanford 6-0 Friday afternoon at a chilly UFCU Disch-Falk Field.

Sophomore Taylor Jungmann struck out 10 Cardinal batters in his seven innings of work to earn his 2nd win of the season.  Jungmann issued four walks and allowed four hits, but was able to work out trouble including a bases loaded strikeout to end the 4th inning.

Texas led 1-0 until Keyes hit a one out opposite field grand slam in the 5th.  The other Texas runs came on an rbi double from Cameron Rupp in the 3rd and an rbi fielders choice in the 6th off the bat of Brandon Loy.

Stayton Thomas recorded two outs in the 8th and then Andrew McKirahan came in to close out the 8th and finish things up in the 9th as the three pitchers allowed just five Stanford hits.

Texas improves to 3-2 and will play game two of their series with Stanford Saturday at 2:00.
