AUSTIN(KXAN) - Its back to the Big XII for the Longhorns after their 35-3 non-conference win over Central Florida on Satuday. Texas travels to Waco on Saturday to take a Baylor team that won their first conference game of the season this past weekend, 40-32 at Missouri.
Even with a 32 point win, Mack Brown was not totally satisfied with the game. Brown was not happy with the lack of production in punt returns and the fact that the defense did not force a turnover. But his feelings subsided when he was able to go home and watch a number of teams struggle.
"I was mad at our defense for not getting turnovers, then I go home and turn on about five games and I wanted to text all of our players and kiss em and say 'hey, thank you, 9-0's good'. I think what you've got to do in our position is appreciate the 9-0 and understand that we've got to get etter. Lets don't walk around with our chest stuck out and act like we played perfect, we didn't. We still haven't played our best game," said Brown.
The fact that Texas dropped from 2nd to 3rd in the BCS standings is irrelevant since the top two teams, Florida and Alabama have to play eachother. Texas remained 2nd in the Coaches Poll and the Harris Interactive Poll, but dropped to 5th by the computers which makes up one third of the formula.
"I'm still trying to get some of those computers to call me back and they will not answer my call, and I haven't seen them at any of the games again this year."
Brown did announce that sophomore Cody Johnson is their starter at running back. Johnson ran for 44 yards on 10 carries against UCF and scored UT's first two touchdowns of the game.
Sophomore cornerback Aaron Williams sat out the UCF game with a knee injury, but is expected to be full speed when they go back to practice on Tuesday.
The Big XII announced that the Kansas-Texas game in Austin on November 21st will start at either 2:30 or 7:00, a final decision will come after the games on Saturday.
