AUSTIN - Before their win against Kansas State Saturday, the last time the Longhorns had won three or more games in a row was when the team had finished a seven-game win streak by beating Temple December 17, 2011. After a 75-64 win over the Wildcats, the team not only has another win streak of more than two games, but it's the first three-game win streak in conference play.
Junior guard J'Covan Brown lead Texas with 23 points. He scored the go-ahead basket for the Longhorns to give them a 56-54 lead in the second half. The Longhorns were down by as many as 15 points but battled back.
"It's a great win," Brown said. "But we don't want to get beside ourselves. We know we have a tough game Tuesday. We're going to enjoy this win and celebrate it. But tomorrow it's time to go back to business. We have a win streak going, three games. We're going to let our defense come out and dictate the game, and stay together as a team, and the win will take care of itself."
Texas is now 6-6 in Big 12 play. The Longhorns play at Oklahoma Tuesday.
