AUSTIN (KXAN) -- - Texas scored six runs on 12 hits to bounce back from its first loss of 2013 with a 6-3 win over Sacramento State Sunday to clinch the Longhorns' season-opening series against Sacramento State.
The Longhorns were down 1-0 after the top of the first, but scored in each of the first four innings to take a 4-2 lead.
In his first start of the year, Dillon Peters earned the win, going seven innings and giving up just two earned runs on five hits.
Corey Knebel came in in the eighth inning to close out the game. Knebel gave up a solo home run in the top of the ninth, but struck out two of the eight batters he faced.
Texas returns to UFCU Disch-Falk Field Tuesday, Feb. 19 to take on UT Arlington at 6:00 pm.
