AUSTIN (KXAN) - Despite scoring two late runs in the eighth and ninth innings, the Longhorns lost to The University of Texas-Arlington 7-5 on Tuesday.
It is the team's second straight loss of the year, after losing its third game in the series against Duke Sunday.
Derek Miller, the son of former Round Rock Express executive and now Texas Rangers vice president Jay Miller, went 2-4 with two doubles, two runs and an RBI for the Mavericks.
Mark Payton went 2-2 with three walks, two runs and an RBI for Texas, who is now 2-2 on the season.
The Longhorns play a three-game series against Stanford starting on Friday.
